NICEVILLE LIBRARY CARD REQUIRED
Hoopla service change effective August 1, 2025:
The Niceville Public Library has implemented a monthly budget cap on our Hoopla service.
How does this work?
Hoopla divides our monthly budget into a daily average, which sets the daily spending limit for our library. Once that daily limit is reached, borrowing is turned off for the rest of the day for all patrons, and they will receive a message saying to “try again tomorrow.” The daily spending limit is reset at midnight. Any remaining budget from the previous day will roll over to the next.
Why make this change?
Hoopla is a pay-per-use service, which means the library is charged a fee each time a patron borrows an item. Pricing varies by item type, making monthly costs unpredictable. Audiobooks are generally the most popular and most expensive, with some costing as much as $3.99, while movies and music cost around $1.50. We feel that the spending cap will make the service fiscally sustainable, ensuring it remains available for our patrons to enjoy.
