Where are the Okaloosa County Libraries located?


Destin Library is located at 150 Sibert Ave. From Hwy 98, just before you get to the Destin Bridge (or right after you cross the Destin bridge) there will be a red light that has a Shell Gas Station on one corner and a Whataburger on the other. Turn in between them onto Stahlman Ave. Make the first left in front of the Community Center, then turn right onto Sibert. The library is on the right side of the street.

Fort Walton Beach Library is located between First Street and Miracle Strip Pkwy at 185 Miracle Strip Pkwy SE (Highway 98). Go south on Eglin Pkwy (Hwy 85) and turn east on First Street. Parking lot is on the First Street side, with additional parking in the Municipal Parking lot to the east across Ferry Road.

Mary Esther Library is located at 100 West Hollywood Blvd. You can access W. Hollywood Blvd from the Mary Esther Cutoff/Hwy 393. At the red light right after the Santa Rosa Mall (or just before the mall) there will be a Dollar Store on one corner and a Network Video Store on the other. Turn onto Hollywood Blvd and the library will be located on the left-hand side of the street.

Niceville Library is located at 206 North Partin Drive/Hwy 285. You can access North Partin Drive from John Sims Pkwy/Hwy 20 and then turn onto Hwy285/Partin Drive. The library is in the Municipal Civic Center Complex behind the Niceville City Children's Park.

Robert Sikes Public Library is located at 1445 Commerce Drive off of Hwy 85 (2 miles North of Hwy 90). Turn right after the Post Office onto Commerce Drive. The library is located behind the Post Office and across the street from the Crestview High School.

Valparaiso Public Library is located at 459 Valparaiso Pkwy/Hwy 190. You can access Valparaiso Pkwy/Hwy 190 from John Sims Pkwy. The turn onto Valparaiso Pkwy/Hwy 190 which is located next to the Budget Motel (on corner of John Sims Pkwy and Hwy 190). You will pass the Okaloosa County Gas Company on your right. The Valparaiso Fire Dept. will be on your left and then when you see a sign that identifies the Valparaiso City Hall make a left. The library is the last door on the left.

OCPLC Office is located at 204 B North Partin Drive/Hwy 285. You can access North Partin Drive from John Sims Pkwy/Hwy 20 and then turn onto Hwy285/Partin Drive. The OCPLC Office is in the Municipal Civic Center Complex behind the Niceville City Children's Park.

How do I get a Niceville library card?


Cards may be obtained by presenting identification verifying name and current address (driver's license, Florida I. D. card, auto registration, printed check, recent cable, utility, phone or property tax bill, rent receipt, or lease agreement).
A parent or guardian must sign if the applicant is 17 or under. The parent or guardian is responsible for any items checked out by a minor. Parents are responsible for monitoring their children's use of library resources.

Does the Niceville Library have computers I can use?


Public use computers are available with internet access and word processing capabilities. If you have a library card, you may sign up at any available computer through our PC Reservation system. Those without a local library card, who have a picture ID, may apply at the Circ Desk for a card. Guest cards are also available at the Circ Desk for visiting patrons. Students under age 16 must have a parent or guardian sign an Internet Use Permission card at the Circ Desk before they can use the computers. Computers are also available in the Youth Services area that are equipped with educational games and programs only. Beginning computer classes are available. Please call 729-4090 or 729-4070 to sign up for the next available class.

Does the Niceville Library have programs for children?


Youth Services offers infant, toddler, & preschool story times. As well as monthly after school programs, family nights, and a summer reading program. Please call (850) 729-4554 for further information.

How can I see what I have checked out?


You may access your account by going to the Okaloosa County Public Library Cooperative's website http://www.readokaloosa.org and clicking on Card Catalog. You will need your library card number, which is on your library card. Any problems, please call 729-4070.

How can I renew my books?


To renew your books go to the Niceville Public Library's website http://www.cityofniceville.org/library.html and the click on renew books. You can then submit your request for renewal. You may also renew your books by phone 729-4090.
Items that are on reserve for other patrons cannot be renewed. You can only renew twice. If you have any problems, please call 729-4070.

How many Niceville Library items can I check out at one time, and for how long?


Each patron may check out 15 items for 2 weeks. Renewals are available if the items are not on reserve. Audios, videos, DVD's, CD's & tapes (or any combination of these items) - limit of 8 per card.

How much does the Niceville Library charge for late/overdue materials?


The library gives a one-day grace period. Fines are 10 cents per day excluding the days the library is closed. There is also a $1.00 fine for audio/visual material returned not rewound.

Does the Niceville Library have meeting rooms?


The library has two study rooms that will accommodate 3-4 people. Study rooms are on a first- come-first serve basis. There is a small conference room also available that will accommodate 10 people. To reserve the conference room, please call 729-4070. The conference room can be used free of charge.
